NFL power rankings:
1. Chiefs (1-0-0): They will earn the top seed in the AFC, based on a so-so division, but the AFC is loaded so it won't be easy getting to the Super Bowl. The added speed outside will make them even tougher to defend.
2. Packers (0-1-0): There is a great mix of veterans and young rising players on this roster. Jordan Love is the real deal
3. 49ers (1-0-0): Getting receiver Brandon Aiyuk signed to a long-term deal was a good move. The roster is still loaded and Kyle Shanahan remains one of the league's best coaches.
4. Bills (2-0-0): You can count them out if you want, but I won't. Brandon Beane has done a nice job retooling this team. They have a nice mix of young and old. Oh, and Josh Allen.
5. Bengals (0-1-0): Joe Burrow is back, which means the Bengals are back. He has to stay on the field, but if he does they are a Super contender.

CFB power rankings:
1. Georgia (2-0): The Bulldogs dominated Clemson in every facet and Carson Beck continued his tear from late last season. It's scary to consider just how much better Georgia might look this week when running back Trevor Etienne returns from suspension. Georgia has won 40 straight regular-season games, the most in the sport since 1957.
2. Ohio State (2-0): Ohio State needed a few quarters to warm up against Akron, but we all knew the Buckeyes would name their score. Freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith lived up to the hype, leading the Bucks in all receiving categories and scoring two touchdowns in the first half. Kansas State transfer WiIll Howard completed 11 of his final 12 passes.
3. Texas (2-0): Texas' warmup for Michigan had everything. The 52-0 blowout of Colorado State was the program's second-largest shutout in a season opener. Backup Arch Manning threw and ran for a touchdown in his debut. More important was the rise of a deeper rotation at receiver: all four touchdown catches were made by transfers.
4. Ole Miss (2-0): No surprise, but Ole Miss can score points in bunches. The Rebels put up 52 in the first half of a 76-0 demolition of Furman. Jaxson Dart needed only one half to throw for 418 yards and a career-high five touchdowns. The Rebs' first test (maybe?) is Week 3 at Wake Forest.
5. Notre Dame (1-1): Everything Notre Dame hoped for came true in the opener at Texas A&M. The defense is elite, and the offense found game-changers at receiver. Riley Leonard was fantastic in his debut, too, carrying the team on the ground when required. The go-ahead touchdown drive was filled with big boy plays in front of the most hostile environment of Week 1.

MLB power rankings:
1. Dodgers (87-60): Add Gavin Stone to the seemingly endless list of pitching injuries, and yet, the Dodgers are on pace to win 97 games. As Dodgers fans know all too well, though, their real season starts in October.
2. Phillies (88-59): Man, they are taking an absolute beating in that fifth starter spot. I guess the good news is you only need four in the playoffs.
3. Yankees (86-62): That's now 12 games without a home run for Aaron Judge. He's 8 for 43 (.186) with 17 strikeouts in that span.
4. Brewers (85-62): The Brewers are 2-5 in September. I wouldn't worry much, though, Milwaukee. That NL Central lead is still nine and that leaves plenty of time to get back on track before October.
5. Orioles (83-65): Adley Rutschman is now hitting .197 with a .289 slugging percentage since the All-Star break.

With a lots of games on the board on a daily basis, if there is a time that you can use some solid advice and some strong selections, NOW IS THAT TIME.
