    CBA power rankings:
Purdue tore through the Maui Invitational with wins over Gonzaga, Tennessee and Marquette. Zach Edey was a monster and helped the Boilermakers dominate on the glass. He also got substantive contributions from the supporting cast. That was especially true in the title game victory over the Golden Eagles as Purdue shot 10 of 21 from beyond the arc while keeping pace with its up-tempo opponent.
    2. UConn: The Huskies beat Indiana and Texas by double-digits in the Empire Classic, even while playing without projected freshman star Stephon Castle, who is out due to a knee injury. UConn appears to have picked up right where it left off in Houston in April, when it cut down the nets as the national champs.
    3. Marquette: Marquette cut Purdue's lead to one with 53 seconds left but couldn't get over the hump in the Maui Invitational title game. Still, it was a great trip for the Golden Eagles, who added wins over UCLA and Kansas to an early resume that already featured a win at Illinois.
    4. Arizona: It's a cruel world when you keep winning and then drop in the rankings. Such is life this early in the season. Through no fault of their own, the Wildcats are no longer No. 1. But their win at Duke is still one of the best by anyone this season, and they can add another quality win to their resume against Michigan State on Thanksgiving Day.
    5. Kansas: Kansas has neutral site wins over Kentucky and Tennessee along with a loss to Marquette. There's no shame in that early-season resume, even if the loss to the Golden Eagles will likely result in a fall from the top spot in the AP poll.

    NFL power rankings:
    1. Eagles (9-1-0): Winning the ugly way they did against the Chiefs on the road is a major victory for this team. They are the clear class of the league right now -- even if it hasn't always looked pretty.
    2. Lions (8-3-0): They had to rally to beat a so-so Bears team at home, which isn't a good sign. But the fact they did it shows they are a truly a good team.
    3. Cowboys (8-3-0): They are getting better by the week. The defense was dominant against a bad Carolina offense, getting DaRon Bland's fourth pick six of the season to seal it.
    4. Chiefs (7-3-0): The offense just isn't good enough right now. It wasted a good defensive effort against the Eagles. That has to change.
    5. 49ers (8-3-0): They are healthy now and playing like it. They beat up Tampa Bay as Brock Purdy had a perfect passer-rating. They are rolling again.

    CFB power rankings:
    1. Georgia Bulldogs (11-0): Winning streaks aren't big on Kirby Smart's radar right now, even tying one that has stood for decades. Georgia romped past Tennessee for a 38-10 victory in Neyland Stadium, tying the SEC record for the longest winning streak. The Dawgs have won 28 in a row, matching Alabama's record from 1978 to 1980 and 1991 to 1993. Smart said there will be a time to celebrate such accomplishments, but now's not that time. Either way, his Bulldogs (11-0, 8-0) are playing their best football of the season with back-to-back blowout victories over nationally ranked teams. Quarterback Carson Beck is playing lights out, as well. He was 24-of-30 for 298 yards and three touchdowns against the Vols.
    2. Michigan Wolverines (11-0): The Wolverines endured more true adversity in the second game of coach Jim Harbaugh's Big Ten-imposed suspension than the first. They had some key injuries and errors and clung to a one-score lead for most of the second half. But the defense stood tall, as Mike Sainristil continued his All-American-caliber season with two interceptions, and five defenders contributed to the team's four sacks. Michigan also stood out on special teams, which helped a sluggish offense. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy threw his first interception since Week 3 and likely will need to be much sharper next week against Ohio State. Under challenging circumstances, Michigan recorded its 1,000th win in program history and back-to-back 11-0 starts for the first time since 1901 and 1902.
    3. Ohio State Buckeyes (11-0): The Buckeyes cruised past Minnesota 37-3 in their penultimate game of the regular season. Running back TreVeyon Henderson saw success on the ground, rushing for 146 yards and two touchdowns, including a 75-yarder. Quarterback Kyle McCord threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns, but it was the defense that shut down the Gophers. The Buckeyes created two turnovers, including a fumble recovery by JT Tuimoloau that likely would've been a touchdown had it not been for his teammate, Jordan Hancock, accidentally running into him. Ohio State was able to take care of business on both sides of the ball and now will take on Michigan on the road in a battle of two undefeated teams.
    4. Washington Huskies (11-0): Despite having won each of their past six games by fewer than 10 points, the Huskies just keep winning. Kalen DeBoer's team knew it was in for a fight against a tough Oregon State team looking to ruin an undefeated season, but Washington did just enough to pull out a 22-20 win in Corvallis. It was a relative off night for Michael Penix Jr., who completed 13 of his 28 passes and only threw for 162 yards, but his two touchdowns and a rushing touchdown fueled the victory while Washington's defense did enough to hold the Beavers to 20 points and stop them on a potential winning drive late in the fourth quarter.
    5. Florida State Seminoles (11-0): The only thing that is top of mind for Florida State right now is the status of quarterback Jordan Travis, who went down with what appeared to be a serious leg injury in the first quarter of a 58-13 win over North Alabama. Travis' ankle bent awkwardly underneath him at the end of a run, and he had an Aircast placed on his leg before he was carted off, placed in an ambulance and taken to the local hospital. Tate Rodemaker came into the game and threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns, and now the offense will be his for the foreseeable future with College Football Playoff hopes at stake. Florida State finishes at rival Florida, then has Louisville in the ACC championship game.

    NHL power rankings:
    1. Stars (12-5-2): The Stars have gotten off to an excellent start, and their elite depth has been on full display. Nine different Dallas players have scored at least four goals this season. For contrast, the Avalanche and Golden Knights each have six. The Stars have made a concerted effort to upgrade their forward group as a whole, and it has paid off. Free agent acquisition Matt Duchene already has 15 points on the season. That takes a lot of pressure off the Stars' top weapons.
    2. Rangers (14-3-1): Few teams in the NHL are more excited to see an opposing player make the shameful skate to the penalty box than the Rangers. With weapons like Artemi Panarin, Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad and Adam Fox, they are built to hammer teams on the man advantage. They have 10.3 xGF/60 on the power play, which has led to the Blueshirts converting on 32.7% of their opportunities. Both of those numbers rank second in the NHL.
    3. Bruins (14-2-3): Stability | Over the last handful of years, the Bruins have seen heart-and-soul players leave the franchise. Zdeno Chara. David Krejci. Tuukka Rask. Patrice Bergeron. David Krejci again. Losing those types of players might sink other franchises. However, the Bruins have kept chugging along, now with players like Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy leading the charge. It seems like Boston has built a self-sustaining machine.
    4. Panthers (12-7-1): Sam Reinhart | With 14 goals in 18 games, Reinhart is off to a silly start in Florida. Reinhart has been a consistent scorer throughout his career, and especially after joining the Panthers in 2020, but this is another level of absurdity. Reinhart's career high is 33 goals, and he is on pace for 67 in 2023-24. I don't think he'll get there, but Florida will be more than happy to ride out this hot streak in the meantime.
    5. Kings (12-3-3): Hotel beds | I'm not sure whether the Kings have poor mattress quality at their homes or what, but they are absolutely thriving on the road this season. Los Angeles is 8-0-0 away from Crypto.com Arena, so I can only assume that the players really love some quality room service and a high thread count. Now they just need to make their L.A. residences more reminiscent of that hotel experience.

    NBA power rankings:
    1. Bucks (11-5): This is more like what most expected when the Bucks added Damian Lillard this offseason, as Milwaukee put up a robust 130 points per 100 possessions in a perfect 4-0 week. Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo combined to average over 60 points per game, with Lillard shooting 43% from 3-point range. Malik Beasley has done exactly what the Bucks need of him, averaging 18 points this week on a blistering 56% from long distance.
    2. Thunder (11-4): What a week for the Thunder, whose winning streak now sits at five following wins this week over the Spurs, Blazers and two against the Warriors. The offense has been ridiculous, averaging 125 points per 100 possessions this week, as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to lead the way. Rookie Chet Holmgren had the breakout game of his young career, putting up 36 points and 10 rebounds in the overtime win over Golden State, including the turnaround, game-tying 3-pointer from the sideline as time expired in the fourth quarter.
    3. Celtics (12-4): The Celtics were well on their way to the No. 1 spot in the Power Rankings before an overtime loss in Charlotte on Monday. There's not much cause for concern, however, as they picked up a big win on Wednesday against the 76ers before close victories over the Raptors and Grizzlies. Jayson Tatum led the team with 28 points per game this week, while Kristaps Porzingis averaged 19 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in the three games he played.
    4. Timberwolves (11-4): Minnesota continued its excellent start, beating the Warriors, Pelicans and Knicks this week, with their only loss coming in Phoenix on a back-to-back. Karl-Anthony Towns is starting to figure things out on both ends, putting up 27 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a block per game this week on 59/43/92 shooting splits.
    5. Pelicans (9-7): Great week for the Pelicans, who beat the Mavericks, Nuggets and Kings while losing to the Timberwolves by a single point with Zion Williamson on the sideline. Brandon Ingram took the lead in terms of scoring, putting up 27 points, six rebounds and 5.5 assists per game for the week. Williamson was excellent in the three wins, putting up 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists per game on 63% shooting.
