Check yesterday's leaderboards, 7 days leaderboards and 30 days leaderboards. NFL power rankings (Final): 1. Chiefs (15-2-0): They head into the playoffs as the top seed. Beating them at home with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid is going to be a tough thing to do. They are also getting healthier. 2. Bills (13-4-0): They surprised a lot of people by finishing with the No. 2 seed in the conference and Josh Allen might be the MVP. But they have to show they can get to a Super Bowl. 3. Lions (15-2-0): What they did to the Vikings serves notice to the rest of the NFC that they are the team to beat. The defense stepped up, which is a good thing for the playoffs. 4. Eagles (14-3-0): They sit as the second seed in the playoffs and will be a tough out for all. They have to hope Jalen Hurts isn't rusty coming off a concussion. 5. Ravens (12-5-0): They head into the playoffs as one of the best in the AFC. The offense will be tough to stop, but their defense will be what decides how far they go. NHL power rankings: 1. Golden Knights (26-9-3): Create more of a good thing | Only five teams have a better power play than the Golden Knights, but only one team gets fewer power play opportunities per game. Vegas is lethal on the man advantage, and that will only give the team a bigger edge if it can start creating more power plays. I would never advocate for diving, but... 2. Jets (27-11-2): The Jets are once again among the hottest teams in the NHL. They've won four in a row and were 9-4-1 in the month of December. Winnipeg is on track for another excellent regular season, but that hasn't mattered much in the last two years. The Jets have gotten bounced in the first round two times in a row, so they will need to be at their best when the lights are brightest in 2025. 3. Oilers (22-12-3): The Oilers are fourth in the NHL in high-danger scoring chances per game (12.7), but their shooting percentage ranks 22nd (10.2%). If Edmonton can start cashing in on those opportunities more often -- as they have the talent to do -- it will start racking up wins at an alarming rate. 4. Kings (22-10-5): The Kings have quietly been one of the best teams in the league for a while now, and they've managed to do that with star defenseman Drew Doughty on long-term IR. Los Angeles has played strong two-way hockey, but it does seem like the roster needs a little more firepower in order to get past teams like the Oilers. GM Rob Blake may not want to mess with a good thing, but I'd like to see him take a big swing for a scorer ahead of the trade deadline. 5. Capitals (25-10-3): The Capitals have been a pleasant surprise, and they'll get their chance to do big things in the playoffs. Having said that, their New Year's resolution is all about getting Alex Ovechkin ahead of Wayne Gretzky on that all-time goals list. Just 25 goals to go. NBA power rankings: 1. Cavaliers (34-6): The Cavs' 12-game winning streak was snapped by the Pacers, but they made sure to get revenge the very next game. This 13-1 stretch has been something to behold, with Cleveland putting up an incredible 123 points per 100 possessions behind three 20-plus per game scorers in Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Evan Mobley. 2. Thunder (34-6): Yep, right back to winning. OKC is 3-0 since losing to the Cavs, and have an absurd plus-12.8 net rating through 39 games. For reference, the 73-win Warriors finished with a plus-10.6 net rating, so this is historic stuff from the Thunder. 3. Rockets (27-13): What a stretch for the Rockets, who beat the Grizzlies twice in five days and then destroyed the Nikola Jokic-less Nuggets for a fifth straight win to pull into a tie with Boston in the loss column for the NBA's third-best record. Houston's offense, which struggled mightily to begin the season, is now all the way up to ninth in the NBA. That's partially due to a heater from Jalen Green, who's averaged 33 points and four assists on 55/53/96 splits over the five-game winning streak. 4. Celtics (28-12): The Celtics have scored fewer than 100 points three times this season -- and they've all happened in the past 10 days. Shooting variance? Sure. But this is what critics point to when it comes to the 3-heavy Boston attack -- off games mean zero offense, as indicated by their 107.8 points per 100 possessions over their last five games, 27th in the NBA over that span. 5. Grizzles (26-15): Memphis is 5-5 over its last 10 games and defense has been the culprit, allowing 116 points per 100 possessions during that span. Ja Morant has been excellent since his return, averaging 23 points and six assists in five games as the Grizzlies have gone plus-48 in his minutes.
