NHL power rankings:
1. Rangers (53-23-4): The Rangers are making a push for the Presidents' Trophy as the regular season winds down. They've won eight of their last 10 games and look to be one of the top teams that will come out of the East.
2. Stars (50-21-9): Much like the Rangers, the Stars have been on fire over the past few weeks. Second-year center Wyatt Johnston has scored a goal in four of his last five games and has produced a 30-goal campaign in 2023-24.
3.Hurricanes (51-22-7): The Hurricanes are really nipping at the Rangers' heels late in the regular season. With Jake Guentzel in the fold, Carolina looks like it's going to be a tough out when the postseason rolls around later this month.
4. Bruins (46-18-15): The Bruins are getting hot at the right time with four consecutive wins, including a massive overtime victory against the Panthers over the weekend. David Pastrnak continues to thrive with five points in his last four games.
5. Avalance (49-24-6): All of a sudden, the Avalanche are really struggling late in the season. Colorado has lost five of its last eight games and needs to get Mikko Rantanen back in the lineup as soon as possible.

MLB power rankings:
1. Braves (8-4): Sure, they lost a game, but we deal in series in this sport. The Braves were the best team heading into the season and just won two of three games on the road against a very strong Phillies team. This isn't worthy of a demotion.
2. Dodgers (10-6): The pitching will be up and down all season, creating the atmosphere for some very entertaining Dodgers losses. Just look at everything so far. They lost a game in which they scored 11 runs and another in extra innings after tying it in the ninth.
3. Yankees (10-3): Here's the winner for the most impressive start. Three come-from-behind wins in a four-game road sweep over a major contender. Damn.
4. Orioles (8-5): The Orioles might not have had a true ace since Mike Mussina. Corbin Burnes is one. How about that Opening Day outing? You're gonna love him!
5. Rangers (8-6): The 2023 Rangers were proof positive that you can win a World Series with a bad bullpen. They had more blown saves than saves! The Rangers this season have terrible bullpen numbers and a 2-1 record. I'd say they're right on schedule. That offense is terrifying.

NBA power rankings:
1. Celtics (63-18): The Celtics are so good that they're basically treating games as live practice reps while sitting a couple of their key guys every night -- and they're still winning. They beat the Thunder, Kings and Blazers this week with Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis all averaging 20 points or more. They lead the East by a whopping 14.5 games.
2. Timberwolves (56-25): The Wolves keep powering along without Karl-Anthony Towns (who may be back before the playoffs), racking up three more wins this week behind a sterling sub-100 defensive rating -- what else is new? They're currently sitting in first place in the Western Conference, with a massive matchup with the Nuggets set for Wednesday. Get your popcorn ready.
3. Nuggets (56-25): Nuggets fans were relieved to see Jamal Murray take the court for Saturday's win over the Hawks after a seven-game absence due to a knee injury. The dynamic guard had three turnovers, but was efficient from the field, finishing with 16 points and six assists. He was plus-14 in 21 minutes.
4. Thunder OKC (56-25): had a tough road to navigate this week without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams, coming out with a 1-3 record. They remain firmly in the mix for the No. 1 seed, and the injuries have led to reps for players they're going to need in the postseason like Aaron Wiggins, Isaiah Joe and Kenrich Williams. Running the show in SGA's absence, Josh Giddey averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for the week.
5. Mavercks (50-31): The Mavs are the hottest team in the NBA, and they continued their assault with a miraculous comeback to force overtime against the Rockets before eliminating them from the postseason. Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic each averaged over 30 points this week, as Dallas is now 22-8 in its last 30 games -- second only to the Celtics over that span.

With a lots of games on the board on a daily basis, if there is a time that you can use some solid advice and some strong selections, NOW IS THAT TIME.
